Synchronous Technologies

Synchronous technologies enable real-time communication and collaboration in a "same time-different place" model. These technologies allow students to connect at a single point in time, at the same time. Synchronous technologies provide the advantage of being able to engage students instantly and at the same time. The primary limitation of synchronous technologies is that, by design, they require simultaneous participation.  Students in different time zones or with conflicting schedules may create communication challenges.  To be efficient, synchronous technologies may require additional network resources, at potentially greater cost.
