What is Interactivity?
Two dictionary definitions of interactivity:
- Allowing or relating to continuous two-way transfer of information between a user and the central point of a communication system, such as a computer. interactivity (Collins English, n.d.).
- The extent to which something is interactive; the extent to which a computer program and a human being may have a dialog. (Dictionary.com's 21st Century Lexicon, n.d.).
Interaction in its simplest definition is a tool to keep people awake and get them moving; in its more complex definition, it's a strategy to engage learners in thoughtful responses to the instruction (Roy, 2006).

Informal Class Definition: (Consensus of Class Discussion from Blackboard)
As a class we defined Interactivity as a two way process of giving and receiving feedback through some sort of technological interaction. This interaction allows students to generate feedback and responses to instruction which then allows instructors to design more effective instruction. This interaction can be performed through any technology, but is most often conducted today through video, e-mail, social networking or text.
